Blood and Gore Lose Money
One of my favorite blogs is Jennifer Marohasy, from down under in Oz. This week, she has a short news bite:
The Church of England’s Church Commissioners have gone green, investing £150 million with former US Vice-President Al Gore’s environmentally minded investment firm, Generation Investment Management.
While the Church of England, and other investors, can get a little rosy glow by sending out a news release where they can brag about “going green”, the actual inconvenient truth is that (in and amongst all of the forked-tongue double speak of Mr. Gore) the investment portfolio has very little to do with anything green, except money.
Snicker, Snicker. ROFL. If only the general public could understand how ironically hypocritical. I feel that this subject warrants a longer explanation of what sort of investment portfolio interests the firm of Blood and Gore.
From Religious Intelligence
Generation Investment Management was founded in 2004 by Mr Gore and David Blood, former head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, and had almost £5 billion under management before the market collapse.
Well, I suppose I need to go do some research to find out how very little of that 5 billion they have left after 2008… I guess that is why Blood and Gore needed to go out looking for more investment money, and who better to find than someone who has “faith” ?
From the International Herald Tribune
The fund’s largest holding is the 7 percent of assets invested in Novo Nordisk, the world’s largest insulin maker. Gore and Blood have also invested in Nestlé, the world’s largest food company, and Johnson Controls, the largest maker of automotive seats and batteries.
Umm, somebody please explain to me the connection this has to “going green”?
